About Us

Janissa’s passion is deeply rooted in her life experiences. After relocating from New Jersey to Delaware, she embarked on a career in Juvenile Justice, serving as a mentor, community ambassador, and Youth Rehabilitation Counselor at the Ferris School for Boys. Alongside these roles, Janissa is the proud owner of two professional businesses—an event planning company and an independent security firm.

"I'm excited to continue sharing my knowledge and experience as I assume my role as Youth Reentry Case Manager," she says, driven by her dedication to empowering young people. Janissa's journey is a testament to resilience and purpose: "When I was a teenager, I swear I thought I wasn't going to make it into adult life!" But her perseverance shines through, "When I see my purpose in everything that I do, it feels so good."

Her story of overcoming adversity is inspiring: "I went from suicide to running the streets to now saving lives. Guiding our youth to understand that our current situation doesn't determine our long run!" Janissa believes in the power of purpose: "We will serve our purpose, and it doesn't have to be fame!"

A fun fact about Janissa? She transforms into the "Coquito Slayer" during the holidays, enjoys playing kickball, and loves salsa dancing.
